Unique Experiences: Do you know any celebrities, local or otherwise? Help put together a celebrity encounter…a basketball clinic with a Harlem Globetrotter…dinner or golf with a baseball or football player…lunch with a local celebrity…sports lesson from a pro…a tour of a network TV station…
Kid Events: How about offering a party for kids to enjoy? Host an ice skating party…or an ornament-making party…what about a mother-daughter tea party…entertain kids for a day during Spring Break…or take a group of kids camping...
Family Events and Items: Wouldn’t it be fun to host a family-based event or donate an item for other families to enjoy? How about a baseball and BBQ party…or a day sailing on the bay…what about offering a weekend at your vacation home…
Adult Parties and Events: The parties offered to adults are often the most fun to purchase…Get together with some neighbors and offer a neighborhood progressive…join some other men or women for lunch and a golf or tennis outing…organize a cigar and poker party…do some weeding in preparation for a garden brunch…offer someone gourmet dinners cooked in the winning bidder’s home…host a wine and cheese party…organize a Mom’s backpacking trip…or a couples tennis tournament...

Gift Certificates: Provide a certificate for a dessert of the month club…create your own certificate to make soup once a month for a year for a family…offer cooking classes…bring your professional and personal lives together and offer consultations in your area of expertise, e.g., architecture, website design, legal, landscape, career counseling…offer music lessons...or offer a free dental cleaning…a massage…or a day at a salon…
Camps: Did you send your child to an amazing camp this summer? Reach out to them and see if they will provide a week-long camp—it is great advertisement for them…think Camp Galileo…or a favorite sleepaway camp…what about a cooking or sports camp…or provide your own camp to the winning bidders for a week next summer…
Theme Basket: Baskets are always a hit…put together a basket of great food…or a collection of hard-to-find wines…what about a basket of fun-in-the-sun items like sunscreen, towels, hats, etc…or a basket for book lovers, green thumbs or sports enthusiasts...
Frequent “Flyer” Donations: Do you have enough American, Delta, United or other airline miles to get two people to New York, Chicago, New Orleans, Los Angeles, San Diego, or Scottsdale? Would you be willing to donate those miles? We need enough miles to provide roundtrip flights for 2 to complete some packages we have put together…have you accumulated more hotel points than you can ever use? We can use them to put together an amazing experience…
Other Amazing Ideas: Do you have contacts to get a kid on the set of a Disney or Nickelodeon show filming (e.g., Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Hannah Montana)…or do you have floor-level seats to a Lakers game…what about a contact at a Napa winery that could provide a private tour and tasting or a night in the on-site cottage…can you get a signed basketball or photo from a celebrity…or do you have another idea for a unique experience you can help us with…
Do you think your donation isn’t “good enough” or “big enough” to give? Think again. We are often trying to put packages together and your item might just be the thing we need to make it perfect!
Please contact any member of the Benefit committee, email benefit2008@hillcrestpta.org, or leave a note in the Benefit Envelope in the office. We can’t have enough donations…and we can always use another great idea!
