Class Art Projects

1st grade art project

14. Back to the Future
With the help of renowned artist (and Hillcrest parent) Christopher Carter, the first grade classes have put a new twist on the traditional quilt project!  The result, Future Requires Vision, is a mixed media painting decorated and embellished by Ms. Buswell’s class using appliqué methods, stencils, cloth and a variety of other materials.  You’ll recognize these little faces as soon as you see them but just in case you can’t find your precious darling, the artists have signed them!  The musical themed collage has been stretched and mounted for display on a wall in your home (~ 5’ x 5’)!

21 There’s Always Something There to Remind Me…
How sweet they were at this age! Ms. Rochester's class has created a hand-painted, mosaic tile garden indoor/outdoor table (about 3’ x 3’). It’s whimsical! It’s magical! It’s functional and made with love from each child. If your child is in Ms. Rochester's kindergarten class (or even if your child is not), you'll want this masterpiece for your patio or other room. It's a great conversation piece. No violence during the bidding process please!

2nd grade painting

1500. Ida Kohlmeyer Inspired Painting by Ms. McLaughlin's Class!

With the guidance of resident artist Lesley Evers, Ms. McLaughlin's second grade class has created a beautiful 30"x30" oil painting.   The class looked at work by a renowned Louisiana artist named Ida Kohlmeyer for inspiration.  Her work is rooted in the spirit of Abstract Expressionism with joyous colors and gesteral movement.  This is a must-have item!

4th grade art project

1502. "Poppies in a Vase" by Hillcrest’s 4th Graders

"Poppies in a Vase" is a gallery-quality original painting expressing the soul and creativity of Hillcrest's 4th grade artists as they celebrate our native California flower, the Poppy.  This beautifully rendered still life of a vase overflowing with poppies is a vibrant expressive statement and display of youthful energy and talent.  The central image is contained in a darker, calming background that focuses and sets off the bright, uninhibited center of the painting, which was created one flower at a time by each of our young artists. The name of each artist is written in the center of their flower.  This gorgeous painting will fill your heart and your most precious display space on your home.

5th grade book cover

1503. How to Be a Kid Forever!

Ms. Bahr's fifth grade class of young published authors invites you to become one of the first to own a signed copy of "How to Be a Kid Forever," their collaborative venture into advice aimed at parents of all ages.  Something for everyone can be gleaned from this insightful manuscript.  No more than two of these prized hardbacks will be auctioned!
