Book Report – Humor
This book report is due, Tuesday, October 7, 2008. You are required to do each of the six sections, as well as, a title page, and a table of contents. Grading will also include grammar, punctuation and spelling. It is okay for you to put more than one section on a page but be sure to indicate this in your table of contents.
Knowledge: List the main characters in the story and describe in detail each character.
Comprehension: Describe in detail one humorous event that occurred in the story and tell why you thought it was funny.
Application: Make a short cartoon about a funny event that occurred in the story. Be sure your captions enable the reader to understand the significance of your cartoon.
Analysis: What kinds of situations make this story humorous? Explain your reasoning in detail.
Evaluation: Write a note to the author of the book explaining why you like the story. Use examples from the book.
Synthesis: Write another humorous episode for the story, which might have happened to the main character. Be sure you include enough information to enable the reader to understand the significance of your episode.
Each section will be graded upon the quality of answers to these questions:- How well does the response address the question?
- How well does the response reflect careful reading of the book?
- How well is the response written?
2008-2009 Book Reports
Each month students will be required to complete a book report. The book reports will be due on the 1st Tuesday of each month. The following is a list of genres to be read each month:
September - Humor

November – Historical Fiction

January - Biography
February - Sports
March – How To
April – Science Fiction
