Spelling/Vocabulary: Word list for the week of 12-6-10, with class definitions:

agitatedly, adv: in an excited or disturbed way.
callous, adj: lacking pity or mercy; unfeeling.
conviction, n: a belief or truth.
eloquent, adj: fluent, forceful or persuasive.
futile, adj: useless, hopeless, or ineffective.
gala, n: a festive occasion, festival or celebration.
homage, n: something given or done to show reverence.
plundering, v: robbing or despoiling.
restive, adj: hard to control, nervous or impatient.
serenity, n: calmness or tranquility.

Due dates for Spelling/Vocabulary homework:
(This schedule is different because of the Asian Art Museum field trip on Wednesday, 12-8-10.)
Tuesday, 12-7-10: alphabetize list, syllables, accents.
Thursday, 12-9-10: definitions & parts of speech. (We will develop class definitions.)
Friday, 12-10-10:: write a sentence for each word.
Monday: 12-13-10: write each word 3X; spelling/vocab test.
