English: Read Chapter 8 of The Outsiders & take detailed notes for class discussion. Due Thursday, 6-3-10.

Spelling/Vocabulary: Word list for the week of 5-31-10, with class definitions and spelling/vocabulary homework due dates:

bewildered, adj: confused or puzzled completely
drawled, v: spoke with long or drawn-out vowel.
eluded, v: escaped the understanding or grasp of
gorged, v: ate greedily
hysterics, n : uncontrollable laughter or crying
imploringly, adv: to beg in an earnest or desperate way
indignant, adj: anger at unfairness or injustice
mimicking. v: mocking through imitation
radiates, v: to spread energy through personality or emotion
wistfully, adv: in a reflective, sad, or melancholy way

Spelling/vocabulary homework due dates:
Tuesday 6-1-10: alphabetize list, syllables, note accents.
Wednesday, 6-2-10: definitions & parts of speech. (we will develop class definitions as well.)
Thursday, 6-3-10: write one sentence for each word.
Friday, 6-4-10. Write 3X; spelling/vocabulary test.
