Writing: Write a descriptive paragraph about what you see when you walk out of the front door of your house. Be sure to use rich sensory words. What do you see, hear, feel, touch, taste, smell? Refer to the Edward Hoagland or Anne Fadiman pieces from Wednesday's class for examples of good, rich descriptive language. Due Thursday, 5-6-10.

Spelling/Vocabulary: Word list for the week of 5-3-10, with class definitions and homework due dates:

Spelling/vocabulary homework due dates:
Tuesday, 5-4-10: alphabetize list, syllables, note accents.
Wednesday, 5-5-10: definitions & parts of speech. (we will develop class definitions as well.
Thursday, 5-6-10: write one sentence for each word.
Friday, 5-7-10. Write 3X; spelling/vocabulary test.
