Spelling/Vocabulary: Word list with class definitions & schedule for week of 10-5-09:

abundance: n, in great supply

bristling: adj, tense with fear or anger
capability: n, the ability to do something; a capacity.
characteristic: n, a distinguishing or defining feature; a quality.
dank: adj, unpleasantly moist; dark and gloomy
divert: v, to distract or turn attention from
floundering: v, moving awkwardly
forsaken: adj, deserted or abandoned.
hideous: adj, disturbing, horrifying, extremely unpleasant.
impudence: n, disrespect, rudeness, shamelessness.

migrate: v, to move from one place to another
pang: n, physical or emotional distress or pain.

Spelling/Vocabulary Due Dates:
Due Monday, 10-5-09: syllables, accent marks, alphabetize list.
Due Tuesday, 10-6-09: look up definitions & part of speech. We will develop definitions in class to use for sentences.
Due Wednesday, 10-7-09: write a sentence for each word.
Due Thursday, 10-8-09: write each word 3 times. Spelling/vocabulary test on Thursday, 10-8-09.
