Spelling/Vocabulary: Word list for the week of 4-27-09, with class definitions:
ally: n, collaborator, friend, or helper.
cache: n, a safe place for hiding or storing things.
commotion: n, a noisy disturbance.
fermented: v, broken down by yeast, bacteria or enzymes.
grimacing: v, twisting or distorting the face, expressing pain,
contempt or disgust.
inconsiderate: adj, thoughtless, not caring about others' feelings
kindling: n, material for starting fires.
laminated: adj, built of thin sheets or layers of a material.
oilcloth: n, waterproof cloth.
opaque: adj, not transparent or translucent.
prompted: v, prodded or moved into action.
rebuke: v, to express sharp disapproval; scold.
scorn: n, contempt or disdain.
tundra: n, a treeless plain in the arctic.
winced: v, fliched or drew back as if from pain.
