Spelling/Vocabulary: Word list for the week of 2-16-09, with class definitions:

agriculture: n, the science and art of farming.
amulet: n, a good luck charm that protects against evil or danger.
badgered: v, harassed or pestered persistently.
defiance: n, bold resistance to authority.
dismay: n, a loss of courage or confidence; discouraged.
domesticate: v, to tame or adapt for human use.
gruffly: adv, in a rough or surly manner.
guttural: adj, rough, harsh rasping sound from the throat.
lithe: adj, supple or limber.
mournful: adj, a feeling, a sound, or an appearance of sadness.
rakish: adj, a jaunty or skewed look.
scourge: n, tormentor; something that inflicts punishment or trouble.
sentinel: n, a person or animal set to guard a group.
shambling: adj, a clumsy, lazy, shuffling manner of walking.
trade: n, the buying, selling, or bartering of goods; commerce.
