Spelling/vocabulary: Word list with class definitions for the week of 1-5-09:
auspicious: adj, fortunate, boding well for the future
cunning: adj, skilled in deception, sly or crafty.
defied: v, openly resisted or opposed.
dowry: n, goods or money brought by a woman to marriage
embroider: v, to make a design on fabric with needlework
garland: n, a woven chain of flowers.
procession: n, moving in an orderly fashion (parade)
respectable: adj, socially acceptable, proper or correct.
shuddered: v, shivered violently from fear
sulky: adj, gloomy, dull, dismal or sullen
Write each word 3X; study for Spelling/Vocab test Friday, 1-9-09.
