Yosemite Brochure
Informational Text Writing Assignment

From the reading on pp.92-95 in the Holt Literature Textbook, review the information found in informational text such as appliance manuals, road signs, nature guides, museum maps, etc. After reviewing these and other resources you may find at home, in the library, online, etc., create a brochure describing and informing the reader of a space at Yosemite that you recommend visiting.

Your brochure should give detailed information, positive (selling this visit!) phrases that will make the reader want to travel to the park tomorrow! Include safety information, such as a helmet in the spider caves, sturdy shoes for the trails, climbing, camping, bear safety information, etc.

Provide your readers with information on Yosemite’s history, geology, plant life, bird watching, sight seeing, including lakes, meadows, camping areas, etc. (Use your memories, journal notes or pictures to begin, and the resources to give detailed information.)

Create a colorful, full-page (horizontal, vertical, folded/unfolded) brochure with pictures and headings for each space you are advertising. (If there is one, a title is fine.) Include a map with a key as well.

The Yosemite brochure is worth 25 points, and is due on May 28.
