Reading:
pp.103-124 in the novel, "The Examination" with notes are due 4/12.
Writing:
From the footbinding *articles, notes and in-class discussions, complete a five-paragraph persuasive essay either for or against the practice of footbinding. Use the outline given in class, and focus on a thesis statement as well as two counterarguments in the body of the essay. This practice/informal five-paragraph essay may be handwritten and is due 4/12.

Read and review newspaper articles; write a review with a focus on brothers for 5 points due weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
List the author, audience, location, as well as illustration and caption, if any.

Write a letter to the editor, with your positive or negative review.
Be ready to discuss your article in class.
